The Newest Megel!

Baby Eve is finally here! And that means we have a niece! It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for her to arrive. I’m sure Sarah agrees! She is oh, so, unbelievably cute!! And I swear I’m not saying that just because she’s my niece. She has the sweetest little round face with lots of dark hair and even long eyelashes.  Weighing in at 9lbs 1oz, she is definitely a Megel baby. Adam and I have both been feeling extra excited about her birth. We already have the cutest and funniest nephew, Eli. But he was born just a week after Abi and I don’t think we ever really got to soak in being an aunt and uncle when he was born. We were too busy being new parents suffering from sleep deprivation and total confusion.
For months now, the plan was that Eli would stay with us while Aaron and Sarah were in the hospital. We were so excited about getting to spend the extra time with him and Abi could hardly contain her excitement. (We made the big mistake of telling her that he was going to stay the night at our house soon.) We all thought Sarah would be a little early, which would mean she would deliver while Adam was on Spring Break. Which would have worked out perfect. But of course, babies never ever come when you want them to. Or when it’s convenient for all the adults involved. Spring Break came and went and we traveled to Aaron and Sarah’s house for Easter. Which would have also been the perfect day to go into labor since we were already there. No dice. She was scheduled to be induced two days later so we finalized all our plans and said, “See you Tuesday!”
The next day, April Fool’s Day, Aaron called me about 1:30 and said, “So, I think Sarah’s water just broke.” I proceeded to tell him that I absolutely did not believe him and that it wasn’t funny. It took him about 10 minutes to convince me that Sarah’s water had actually broken and they really were on their way to the hospital! They did some last minute scrambling, got Bubba all taken care of and only four hours later she was born!! It was pretty much the worst timing ever, but now it makes a great story to tell.
We loved having Eli stay with us. He and Abi just love each other so much.  We took him home Wednesday night and got to meet sweet little Baby Eve. Abi was smitten and wanted to hold her over and over. She weighed 9lbs so she is by no means a small baby. But she seemed so tiny compared to Hefty Pants Madi. It just reminds me how fast time flies and how quickly they grow. I can’t believe it was just 7 months ago that Madi was that small. And no, it absolutely doesn’t make me want another one any time soon. In case I had any doubts, Eli’s visit reminded me we are definitely not ready for three kids full-time! Ha!

proud uncle!

In just 2 1/2 years, Adam's parents have gone from 0 to 4 grandkids! Wowzers.
And who said we aren't good Catholics!? ;)

Isn't she precious!?
It was a good thing Eli left when he did. The next morning Abi woke up with pink eye and Madi had it by noon. Bleh! By 2pm the same day I was down with a virus and a high fever. Abi got the fever the next day and Madi the day after that. And Adam has another sinus infection. Is it summer yet??

Happy Easter!

As usual, Easter was a whirlwind of chocolate, egg hunts, family and missed nap times. We are beyond blessed to have so much family to celebrate The Resurrection of Our Lord with. But shew, it’s exhausting. And the poopy diapers after a weekend of too much candy…..less than pleasant. This year Abi had a blast hunting for Easter eggs and opening her baskets. Which is good because she did it four times. Both the girls were champs about going here and there and everywhere. And they made out like bandits.

bahahaha!!

The Easter Bunny brought both girls some books. Abi also got a bubble gun, sidewalk chalk,
silly putty and new crayons. Madi got some new sippy cups, sunglasses and a chew toy.
(The Easter Bunny got a little carried away this year. I blame it on Spring Fever.)

I'm referring to Madi, of course. Not Mike. :)
