Madelyn 9-10 Months

I can't believe it. Madi will be a year old in two months. Where has the year gone!? She had her 9 month well-check awhile back, but I'm a little late (as usual) writing about it. She weighed 23 lbs and was 30.25 in long. 94% for weight and 98% for length. I swore she was going to weigh at least 26 lbs, but I guess she just feels that heavy because I carry her around all day! She's down to the 94% for her weight, so she is "slimming down" as Dr. Taylor put it. But I think it's just because she grew 3.5 inches in only three months! If you've ever seen the girl eat you are not surprised by any of this.

I haven't done a very good job of keeping track of her milestones. So here are some that I can remember:
-8 months: drinks independently from a sippy cup, feeds herself
-8 months: said "da-da" (that's 2 for 2 now. Adam is pretty proud of himself)
-8 1/2 months: bottom two teeth finally came through
-9 months: lots of rocking back and forth on hands and knees
-9 months: can say da-da, uh-oh, cracker (sounds like "cack-uh"), jack and dog
-9 1/2 months: learned to crawl...learned to crawl up the stairs a week later
-9 1/2 months: swallowed a rock....sifted through poop for a week, still haven't seen it
-10 months: pulls up to stand
-10 months: currently cutting her four top teeth
-10 months: Your dad still can't remember how to spell your name. This is not a joke.

At 10 months, she is now only nursing in the morning and before bed (thank goodness!). At night she usually sleeps 8pm-6:30am. Then she typically takes three one-hour naps during the nap. She consistently eats twice as much as her sister at meals and I've yet to find a food she doesn't like.

Madi is now what I would call "extremely mobile." The girl is everywhere and into e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. She is waaay worse than Abi ever was. And of course everything goes in her mouth. I think we say to Abi 100 times a day, "Don't leave that there, Madi will eat it...Can you pick that up, Madi might get choked." And yet the list of things we've rescued from her mouth is extensive: pennies, nickles, buttons, safety pins, mulch, peanuts, bottle lids, hair clips, ponytail holders. I swear I am constantly picking up and sweeping. But the girls finds everything.

Madelyn, you are such a sweetheart and bring your Mommy and Daddy so much joy. Even your sister loves you to death. Everywhere we go people are constantly stopping us to comment on your beautiful blue eyes and your contagious smile. And of course your impressive tree trunk thighs.

A little SSR time (teacher humor)

stinker

She was getting sleepy and the next thing I knew, she was out!

Madi has to have a sink bath after almost every meal. She's a little piggy.

could she be any cuter!?!?
